Environmental Monitoring and Investigations in Urban Settings

Are you curious about how we humans affect the air we breathe, and even the soil in which we grow our food? In this weeklong Teen Research Program, you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience in the science of environmental research. Together we will collect, analyze, and interpret data surrounding the presence (or absence) of environmental pollutants such as chemical lead (Pb) concentrations in the soil and particulate matter concentrations in the air, both at The Lawrence Hall of Science and in your surrounding neighborhoods. We will also discuss how these techniques and approaches can be applied to environmental monitoring in other urban settings. You will gain skills and knowledge about environmental science while adding valuable experience to your college application or career path.
