Join IN the Summer of INvention!

As we celebrate our 50th Anniversary Year, the Hall invites you to Join IN for a Summer of INvention. Meet with scientists and researchers from UC Berkeley who are developing new technologies in the fields of robotics, biotechnology, and more. Use your INgenuity to dream up your own INnovative creations. Every day this summer offers a new opportunity to discover and invent!

The Hall will be open daily this summer from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Exhibits

Join In Invention Investigation Ingenuity Innovation

Everywhere you see this Join IN image at the Hall is an opportunity to exercise your ingenuity as you create your own inventions or get inspired by ideas that others have explored. Here are a few of the exhibits that are part of the Summer of INvention:

10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

What does an ideal community look like to you? In the Hall’s newest exhibit, we’re inviting our guests to contribute their ideas to a growing city, by using LEGO® bricks. Whether you construct a park, a school, a tower, or a vehicle, with your imagination we will Build a Better World—Together.

Join IN with your own architecture!

10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Design, build, and test your own prototypes. Invent some rockets and hovercraft using recycled materials. Discover what it takes to build earthquake-resistant structures. Become an engineer in our popular Design Quest exhibit.

Join IN the design process!

10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Especially for our younger visitors, the Young Explorers Area (YEA) has fun elements sure to be favorites with your family! Join in the exploration as you and your child experiment with our colorful gear wall, see what flies the highest in our wind tube, and investigate motion on our amazing gravity wall.

Join IN the family science exploration!

11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

Flex your design muscles as you take on some of the Hall’s most popular activities in Ingenuity Challenges. Build artbots using LEGO® bricks, create your own marble machines, and design toys that move, throughout the summer. Visit our Ingenuity Challenges page to see the full schedule of activities.

Join IN with your INgenuity!

10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Discover cutting-edge science coming out of UC Berkeley, one of the world’s top public research universities. Use the kiosk to select from a series of videos about research and innovations ranging from a jumping robot to 3D printing.
