Science Camp @ The Lawrence for Grades 5 – 6

Three week IN PERSON Camp at The Lawrence

Mission to Mars
Do you think you could live on another planet? This week you will blast off into cutting-edge science as you investigate ways to survive on Mars! Together we will design and test systems for providing water, oxygen, warmth, and more on a Martian colony. You will gain a deeper understanding of our galaxy and its stars, other planets, spacecraft engineering, and more. This program takes place M-F, 9AM-4PM at The Lawrence and includes visits to museum exhibits.

City Engineers
What happens when you build a city on shaky ground? This week you will explore how to design a city that can survive an earthquake and related natural disasters. Together we will explore the effects of earthquakes on land, water, and structures, then design stable structures and alternative energy sources, and finally create earthquake preparedness public service announcements. You will gain a deeper understanding of engineering as well as the causes and effects of earthquakes. This program takes place M-F, 9AM-4PM at The Lawrence and includes visits to museum exhibits.

LEGO Robotics
Do you have what it takes to code a champion? This week you will design, build, and write the code needed to make a robot tackle a gauntlet of challenges. Together we will learn about loops, sensors, and servos as your mechanical olympians compete against both The Lawrence’s records and each other. This program takes place M-F, 9AM-4PM at The Lawrence and includes visits to museum exhibits.
