The Lawrence Hall of Science, a nationally renowned leader in innovative, hands-on science presentations, seeks a teacher for our weekend birthday parties for children in preschool, elementary and middle school. This is the perfect job for a college student who is looking for weekend work, is interested in science, and wants to work with children. This is an excellent position for an individual who seeks science, education, public relations or museum-related experience.
- Learning and teaching birthday party workshops
- Classroom set up/clean up
- Supervising children
- Restocking of supplies
- Preparing materials such as photocopying, assembling arts and crafts projects
- Cleaning, organizing and maintaining the work area.

You must be a currently enrolled U.C. Berkeley student with both an analytical, science-oriented mind and an outgoing, enthusiastic personality to present fun, hands-on, science workshops to children. You will be teaching biology, chemistry, and physics/engineering workshops on the weekends. Professional attire and demeanor are necessary for working with school-aged children.
- be available almost all Saturdays AND Sundays between 9am–5pm, as the workshops only occur on the weekends.
- be detail oriented and well organized.
- be reliable, punctual, responsible, well organized.
- be able to keep an assigned schedule.
- be able to lift up to 25 pounds is required.
Experience working with children is preferred.
