Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

October 31, 2018

In celebration of our mutual 50th anniversaries, the Lawrence Hall of Science has partnered with the Oakland A’s to bring science to local schools and to the Oakland Coliseum. Now through September 23, if you purchase tickets for select games through our fundraising link, the Hall will receive 25% of every ticket sold. The funds will help us continue to deliver quality science education to Bay Area students and further our mission of fostering and inspiring science and math learning for all.

On July 22, the Hall was featured as a nonprofit partner at the final game of the thrilling Bay Bridge Series between the A’s and the San Francisco Giants. A group of enthusiastic Hall staff and volunteers brought some of our most popular hands-on science activities to the ballpark for kids and families to enjoy between innings. Dozens of young baseball fans engaged with science, learning about geometry and engineering with paper dowels and KEVA® blocks.

The game itself was almost as exciting as the interactive science happening in the breezeway, featuring 5 home runs between the two teams. The A’s won the game 6–5 in extra innings, bringing home the newly minted Bay Bridge Trophy for winning the series.

We extend our sincerest thanks to those who have purchased tickets to support the Hall, as well as to those who stopped by our booth at the Coliseum to explore, discover, investigate, and invent with us! If you would like to attend an Oakland A’s game while also advancing science education for all, you have several more opportunities. Click the button below to see the schedule and purchase tickets. See you at the ballpark!
