September 28 through January 5 — Enter the fascinating world of Wildlife Rescue, an eye-opening, inspiring, and wildly interactive exhibit.
Take a Trip Into the Wild
Animals and habitats all over the Earth are endangered. Get to know some of these species by joining them and the scientists working for their protection on a survival journey—from the recovery center and back into the wild.
The Entrance Grove
Your Wildlife Rescue journey begins at the entrance grove, where you'll become familiar with the concepts of biodiversity, restoration and animal rehabilitation.
The Species Recovery Center
Get a first hand experience of a captive breeding program, designed to save endangered animals from extinction. You'll see how professionals and volunteers capture at-risk animals from the wild and breed and raise their young. Experiment with puppets, costumes and other techniques used to teach young animals essential survival skills so they can be released back into the wild.
“Return to the Wild” Theater
Journey to Africa and Indonesia to hear the stories of people who are dedicating their lives to saving orphaned elephants and orangutans. By making long-term commitments and building relationships with the animals, these dedicated rescuers are helping to save the entire species.
Emergency Response Center
How do humans help a turtle whose shell is damaged by a car while crossing a road? Or a flock of seabirds threatened by an oil spill? Or a herd of elk stranded after a flood? Wildlife centers across North America have been established to help. Through hands-on activities, you can practice what it takes to save these animals.
Find out the many ways how YOU can directly help wild animals in North America. The initiative you take can save species and habitats. With your newfound knowledge and experiences, you'll feel empowered, knowing that you can make a difference.
Wildlife Rescue is a production of Science North, Sudbury, Ontario, Canada.
