Something fun is happening at the Hall every day this summer. Enjoy a new event each Wednesday, June 17–August 19. Make sure you also visit our Animal Discovery Room, Planetarium, and Ingenuity Lab, which are open daily throughout the summer.
Turn your days-off into Summer Fun Days with the Hall. Find your inner engineer and team up to create a zoo out of newspaper structures. Experience the science behind fire in our Flames, Flares, and Explosions show!
- June 24 | Flames, Flares, and Explosions
Flames take the stage as you learn the science behind explosions and other fiery creations. Get ready to be mesmerized by the bright (and safe) flames, flares, and explosions! Shows at 12:00 noon and 1:30 p.m.

July Summer Fun Days
The Summer Fun Days are just getting started! Step into the great outdoors to create and race your own boats, learn to make ice cream by hand, and experience a high-flying trapeze show by "Les Aerielles" troupe.
- July 1 | Boat Race
Use everyday recycled materials to design, build, and test your own boat. Learn the physics that allow your boat to stay afloat, then practice your newfound knowledge in the Forces that Shape the Bay pond.
- July 8 | Electricity Festival
From your phone to the lights in the room, electricity is all around us. Discover the science behind energy through interactive and hands-on activities. Use everyday materials to create your own light-up creations, and experience some hair-raising fun with our Van de Graaff generator.
- July 15 | Ice Cream Day
"I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!" Join Chevron and the Hall for a tasty summer treat. Use some chemistry and mix cream and sugar to make your own homemade ice cream. Then, try the classic Bay Area taste with scoops from Fenton's Creamery.
- July 22 | Trapeze Spectacular
High-flying stunts will captivate you as the troupe "Les Aerielles" performs aerial acrobatics. How do they use laws of physics to spin, climb, and make such beautiful shows? Bring your sunglasses—along with the whole family—and enjoy this amazing outdoor event. Shows at 12:30 and 1:30 p.m.
- July 29 | Big Bug Bonanza
Bring out your inner entomologist and discover a world right under your feet. Meet and touch small bugs, spiky ones, and even giant ones as you learn about their environments and lifestyles with the help of Save Nature.
August Summer Fun Days
The summer is winding down, but that doesn't mean the fun days have to end. Join us for a day of space exploration as we tackle the universe's hardest questions, or take a step into the future and discover the new world of robotics in Robots 3D.
- August 5 | Space: The Final Fontier
Is there life on other planets? Are there more Earths in our universe? Get up close and personal with some of the most exciting space explorations, as you find answers to these and other questions. Interact with planets in Science On a Sphere® or take to the stars in our Kepler-inspired Planetarium shows.
- August 12 | Real-life Robotics
Scientists are making robots more human every day. Catch a free screening of Robots 3D and learn how scientists are working to make complex and humanoid robots that can tackle human challenges. Rumor has it that a robotic cast member from Robots 3D may show up! Free showings at 12:00 noon, 1:00, and 2:00 p.m.
- August 19 | Fizzy Foamy Science
Learn to make fizzy paint and create beautiful artworks on the Hall plaza. Use vinegar, pigment, and baking soda to bring your art to life. Take the science with you and re-create this fun and nonpermanent painting activity at home.
* All Summer Fun Day activities run from 12:00 noon and 2:00 p.m., except for the event on June 24, which features shows at 12:00 noon and 1:30 p.m., and the event on July 22, with performances at 12:30 and 1:00 p.m.
