Theatre Interns

TEAMS Theatre uses nontraditional communication to spark people's interest and involvement in health issues. Teens learn to use theatre as a teaching technique for promoting wellness and community awareness.

During their training students work with scientists and actors to develop skits and learn presentation skills.

The human body's remarkable capabilities and the effects of unhealthy practices are presented using memorable theatre techniques-- humor, music, and improvisation.

Participating youth have co-developed, rehearsed and presented:

Healthy Fairy Tales for young audiences
Monologues about teen health issues
You Are What You Eat: Game Show for youngsters
Ask Alice, a twenty minute play about making wise choices
Buffy the Vampire Sprayer, a ten minute play about making wise choices

Students report they have fun, make friends, learn about acting and performing, gain confidence in front of audiences, and learn more about the body.
