Direct Deposit At Washington Mutual

Central Payroll is alerting you to a change that only affects employees
with payroll direct deposit that are former Washington Mutual Bank
customers. You may receive calls from employees stating that they received
an HCM message indicating they did not make any changes to their payroll
direct deposit account. They are receiving this automated message because
payroll has updated the employees payroll direct deposit account number in
HCM to the new Chase Bank account number. This change is necessary
because Chase bank purchased Washington Mutual and is now converting
previous Washington Mutual account customers over to Chase Bank account
numbers.

Central Payroll is sending affected employees a separate email informing
them that we have updated their account information, a sample of that
email is provided below and the reason why they will receive an HCM
message.

Please help us by informing your employees that due to this change if they
are normally to be paid on July 23rd or August 1st that they will receive
a paper paycheck. We understand that this will affect our employees and
want to make sure they have ample notice of this one time change. Their
pay will go direct deposit as normal on their next regularly scheduled
payday.

If you have any questions, please contact payhelp@berkeley.edu

Thanks, Central Payroll

Message sent to affected employees:

Central Payroll is changing your payroll direct deposit account number as
provided to us by Chase Bank. This change is required due to the purchase
of Washington Mutual Bank by Chase Bank. Chase Bank is now converting
Washington Mutual customers to new Chase Bank account numbers.

Please note that due to the timing of this change, if you are paid on the
23rd of July or the 1st of August, you will receive a paper check instead
of your direct deposit. Your paper check will be available at your home
department on your normal payday.

You will be receiving an automated notice from HCM stating that your
direct deposit information was updated as shown in the sample below:
