CASTLEMONT HIGH Over the past two years, students in Mr. Laub's physics class have made weekly measurements of the concentration of radon gas in soils at Castlemont High School, located within one kilometer of the North-Central Hayward Fault in East Oakland, California.

Data collected thusfar by Castlemont student scientists indicates a positive correlation between radon emanation and the occurrence of several small, local earthquakes.		Although far from conclusive, these results suggest that changes in radon concentration may be related to changes in the geophysical state of the earth near Castlemont.
