The BaySci program is designed to strengthen inquiry-based elementary science instruction in the Bay Area. It is open to teachers and administrators in Novato USD, Palo Alto USD, and Petaluma City Schools. BaySci program leaders – the Exploratorium and the Lawrence Hall of Science – help support districts, schools, and teachers through professional development opportunities, workshops, and meetings where BaySci partnering school districts work together with other districts to further district- and teacher-based elementary science education reform.
BaySci offers a menu of professional development opportunities along with district-level planning and technical assistance focused on leadership and capacity-building around elementary science education.
A key feature of BaySci is that it addresses the specific individual needs expressed by district partners by taking strategic advantage of the programs, resources and expertise of the involved informal science education institutions — the Exploratorium and the Lawrence Hall of Science.
