What's new

SEPUP provides a number of resources that can be useful to classroom teachers, school and district administrators, and researchers in the field of science education.

Assessment in SEPUP

The SEPUP assessment system applies new theories and methods to the practice of teacher-managed, classroom-based assessment of student performance. This approach is known as embedded assessment. Opportunities to assess student progress and performance are integrated into the instructional materials and are virtually indistinguishable from day-to-day classroom activities. The student assessments in all SEPUP instructional materials were developed and field tested along with the instructional materials and are an integral part of the teaching and learning process.

Standards Correlations

All SEPUP instructional materials correlate well with the National Science Education Standards (NSES) and to the standards set forth by some states. Each SEPUP curriculum addresses many, but not all, of these standards. Other instructional materials, including those developed by SEPUP, may be used to help address these standards in their entirety.

Research on SEPUP

SEPUP's innovative approach to science education has made it a natural focus for a variety of studies both by academic institutions and by school districts. SEPUP has compiled a bibliography of this research which shows the range of topics that have been investigated.
