National Field Test of Science in Global Issues Biology Units:

Be a part of SEPUP's development of high school Physics and Chemistry units funded by the National Science Foundation!

  • Issue-oriented
  • Students explore issues related to global sustainability
  • Hands-on, guided-inquiry science curriculum
  • Units to include waves and electricity & magnetism (Physics) and the structure & properties of matter (Chemistry)
  • Participating field test centers and teachers receive professional development, kit materials, and a stipend in exchange for unit and activity feedback

We are looking for teachers to establish field test centers nationwide.

Staff Changes at SEPUP

SEPUP is pleased to announce the appointment of John Howarth as a new Instructional Materials Developer. John has a B.S. In Biochemistry and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education both from the University of Liverpool in England. He also has an M.A. in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University. John was a secondary science teacher for 10 years in Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei. In the U.S. he spent 10 years teaching in Jackson Hole, Wyoming before moving to Michigan in 1996 where he worked as a science teacher, a science curriculum supervisor, and as a curriculum director.

In addition, SEPUP has appointed Chris Keller as a new Instructional Materials Developer. Chris's prior experiences include undergraduate and graduate degrees in the field of physics, experience teaching physics at the college level, and research on the use of technology-enhanced physics instruction. SEPUP is excited about the expertise Chris will add to the development of Science in Global Issues, SEPUP's high school integrated science program.
