Library Classes

Classes spark curiosity and build enthusiasm for a lifelong interest in science and math. Children and parents enjoy age-appropriate, hands-on, exciting learning activities together.

 

Ages 3-6 (with participating adult)

Lizards

March 11
Compare different kinds of lizards to notice what they have in common and learn why. Feel their scaly skin and listen to a story about how they defend themselves from predators. Create a habitat that will provide everything your toy lizard needs to survive.

Colorful Science

April 15 Full
The world is full of beautiful and amazing colors! Discover how many different colors you can create by mixing up your own rainbow recipes. Make a rainbow wand filled with incredible, super-absorbent crystals to take home.

Fizz, Pop, Wow!

May 20
Mix up some cool concoctions and see which ones bubble and fizz. Experiment to find the ingredients that make the bubbliest solutions. Figure out how to inflate a balloon by trapping the gas created when certain substances are combined.

Bubble-ology

June 10
What's inside a soap bubble? How can you change the shape of a bubble? Can you shake hands with a friend through a bubble wall? Investigate these questions and more as you become an expert bubble-ologist. Everyone gets a turn to be inside a giant bubble.

 

The Lafayette Library and Learning Center is located at 3491 Mt. Diablo Blvd in Lafayette, just off the Oak Hill Road downtown Lafayette exit off of Highway 24. Classes are held in the Art and Science Discovery Room.
