R & D Briefs

• Make clear the purpose of the brief (For example, a theme or issue; project, program, or center within LHS, or timely topic—what is new and exciting right now at LHS), and its importance to the museum field or science/math teaching and learning.

• Thoroughly and concisely describe the project, set forth goals of the project and the principles or approaches of the project in meeting these goals.
• Articulate how the thinking and/or research that support these principles/approaches.
• Establish a link between the project and current practitioner needs.
• Based on the type of brief and the stage of completion of the project, use the following as applicable.

• Describe how the project is progressing toward its goals and/or evaluation of the product [front-end, formative and/or summative].
• Present findings in a way that addresses the problems, questions, or hypotheses and supports assertions or warrants.
• Include data tables, figures, and pictures that are easy to read and add to the understanding of the study.

• Describe how the project is applied, project success and/or next steps and applications of the project in the field in general.
