Karen Mayfield-Ingram has been on the EQUALS staff for 13 years and is Associate Director of EQUALS. She is co-editor of the EQUALS Middle School Investigations series and co-author of the FAMILY MATH: The Middle School Years book. She serves as Project Director of the Mathematics Professional Development Institutes (MPDI) funded through the University of California Office of the President. Mayfield-Ingram is also Co-Director of the Family Advocacy in Mathematics Education (FAME) Project funded by Lucent Technologies Foundation; she will lead the development, revision, and publication of project materials. Mayfield-Ingram has served on the California Mathematics Council state board and as secretary for the Northern Section of the California Mathematics Council. She has given numerous presentations on systemic school reform, teacher leadership, equity, family involvement, and mathematics pedagogy and practice at the local, state, and national level. She has made presentations at the AAAS State Equity Conference, the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics Conference, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Conference, and the Northern Section of the California Mathematics Council Conference. Mayfield-Ingram has extensive teaching experience with students in grades four through nine, most recently at the middle school level. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from St. Mary's College of Moraga, California and is completing her Master of Arts in Mathematics Education from San Francisco State University. |
