Teach science in the context of real-life environmental issues using this interdisciplinary high school curriculum.
GSS, an integrated, interdisciplinary course for high school, includes twelve student books, teacher guides, and Digital Earth Watch (DEW) software. The course deals with societal issues that require science for full understanding. The books may be sequenced in a custom, one-year integrated science course or serve as supplementary materials for existing high school biology, physics, chemistry, Earth science, or social studies courses. With innovative and creative use of the electronic versions that are available, the GSS system can reduce your textbook costs by an order of magnitude! This program was developed for grades 9–12.
Professional development sessions are available on topics including how to sequence GSS materials in a custom, one-year integrated science course or how to use individual GSS elements as supplementary materials for existing high school biology, physics, chemistry, Earth science, or social studies courses.
Teacher-guide documents are available online at the GSS website to serve as an online professional-development resource. Customized professional development workshops can be designed for specific needs, such as implementation of GSS at a single school, implementation in a whole school district, or best strategies for addressing science standards requirements.
