From From Syu, in Japan......

Hello all,

I would like to share Japanese star festival with you. Tanabata is a star festival in Japan. It has a romantic story. Tanabata came from old legend in China.

Two stars, Cowboy Star(Altair) and textile princess star(Vega), are in love but can meet only once a year on July 7th beyond the Milky Way! In addition if weather is good. So people pray for good weather by hanging decorations on bamboo branches. It isn't a national holiday but most Japanese people celebrate it. People write their wishes on pieces of paper(about 15cm*5cm), which are attached to bamboo branches. I show you a photo of Tanabata.

If you send me your wishes, I write it on the pieces of paper and attach to the bamboo branches. I show you kids' wishes:

  • Mom, treat me tender.
  • Get a good grade in Math.

Their dreams come true. Bye from Japan
