Connecticut State Department of Education co-created the "School-Family-Community
Partnerships Project" to provide training, workshops, a newsletter,
and a collection of resources.
Montana's
Center for Community Education piloted "Even Start,"
a project that emphasizes parents' involvement as communicators, supporters,
learners, teachers, advisors, and advocates.
The
California State Board of Education's "Parent Involvement
Policy" helps schools and school districts develop strong, comprehensive
parent-involvement policies at all grade levels and in a variety of
roles.
West
Virginia's "Total Village Project" supports parent/community/school
communication with parent-teacher action teams, mentoring, tutoring,
and other assistance.
In
Louisiana and other states, all Title 1 schools (which receive
extra educational services for children who risk failing to meet state
academic standards because of poverty or other social circumstance)
make written "compacts" with parents as part of a state-mandated
parent-involvement policy.
The
Colorado Department of Education opens its Web site with just
one motto: "Students-Parents-Teachers."
