Back to the Jurassic
Apatosaurus Greets Visitors at LHS
When children—and adults—picture dinosaurs, it’s often the creatures of the Jurassic period that come to mind. Among the most magnificent is the long-necked Apatosaurus.
As part of its 40th Anniversary “greatest hits” theme, the Lawrence Hall
of Science—famous for its many dinosaur exhibits over the years—has installed
a robotic Apatosaurus in its lobby through
November 30. The model is over
33’ long
and sways its long neck and head from side to side. Suspended above the dinosaur
is a Pteranodon, a flying reptile.
The current major exhibit at LHS is Engineer
It! This hands-on exhibit engages
visitors in the engineering process , including stations to build bridges and
boats , and earthquake - proof structures, design and fly paper airplanes,
and walk in a wind tunnel..
The robotic Apatosaurus was created by Kokoro Dinosaurs, J & S S International, Inc.
