Big Dinos Return
September 30, 2005–January 16, 2006
Exhibit Description
Dinosaurs are back by popular demand in Big Dinos Return. The centerpiece of this robotic dinosaur show is a growling T. rex the size of a school bus. It will be accompanied by feathered T. rex young; fierce Velociraptors; the swift Gallimimus, the birdlike Oviraptor, and a mother Maiasaura and her young.
And An Ostrich!
A nesting ostrich joins the group to demonstrate the similarities between birds and theropods, the dinosaur family that includes T. rex. One of the most exciting areas of study in paleontology today is how feathered dinosaurs evolved and their connection to birds.
There will be humans, too. Get insights into the work of dino detectives. From dry fossil beds to laboratories with lasers and spectrometers, follow the work of the people who are piecing together the fascinating history of dinosaurs.
The story of dinosaurs and birds is so intriguing you’ll want come back again and again. The exhibit runs September 30 through Martin Luther King Jr. Day, January 16, 2006.
Big Dinos Returns is co-sponsored by the UC Museum of Paleontology, University of California Berkeley. Robotic Dinosaurs were developed by Kokoro Dinosaurs.
