New Exhibit Big Dinos Return Opens on September 30

Free Community Day and Weekend Special Events Planned in Celebration

For Immediate Release
September 14, 2005

You Asked for 'Em–We've Got 'Em

Dinosaurs are back by popular demand in Big Dinos Returnwhich runs from September 30, 2005 through January 16, 2006.

The centerpiece of this robotic dinosaur show is a growling T. rex the size of a school bus.  It will be accompanied by feathered T. rex young; fierce Velociraptors; the swift Gallimimus, the birdlike Oviraptor, and a mother Maiasaura and her young.

And an ostrich!

A nesting ostrich joins the group to demonstrate the similarities between birds and theropods, the dinosaur family that includes T. rex.  One of the most exciting areas of study in paleontology today is how feathered dinosaurs evolved and what their connection is to birds.

There will be humans, too.  Get insights into the work of dino detectives.  From dry fossil beds to laboratories with lasers and spectrometers, follow the work of the people who are piecing together the fascinating history of dinosaurs.

The story of dinosaurs and birds is so intriguing you'll want come back again and again.  The exhibit runs through Martin Luther King Day, January 16, 2006.
