NEON CARD Frequently Asked Questions

Why is it called the Neon Card?
Adults have platinum cards and gold cards; kids-and fun-loving adults-will have Neon Cards! We think neon's the coolest element on the periodic table; chemists know it as one of the five noble gasses.

The Neon Card looks so neat--can a recipient keep it?
Sure. We know many holders will want to keep the Neon Card as a souvenir. When a group or family visits, we'll stamp the card and return it to the holder.

The Lawrence Hall of Science sounds serious. Is it?
LHS pioneered hands-on science learning. We brought the first dinosaurs to the Bay Area. We float elephants. And we have a 60-foot DNA molecule that kids can climb all over. For a look at all of the events and activities at the Hall go to www.lawrencehallofscience.org/specialevents/.

What can Neon Card holders look forward to at Lawrence Hall of Science?
In addition to our special traveling exhibits, in 2003 we opened Forces That Shape the Bay-a new permanent, interactive, outdoor exhibit on how the San Francisco Bay was formed. Visitors can investigate and find out: Why have sailboats replaced sloths on the Bay? Why is California drifting north and how fast is it going? We will keep you informed about all of our exhibits and events through email updates and calendar mailings.

Where is the Lawrence Hall of Science?
LHS is located near Tilden Park in the hills above UC Berkeley. We are just below Grizzly Peak Blvd., one of the most scenic routes in the East Bay. At 1100' above sea level we have a spectacular view of the San Francisco Bay - and 250 parking spots.

Is there an expiration date?
There's no expiration date, but the card is a one-day admission pass. Come back another day with another card!

Is the Neon Card only available during the holidays?
The Neon Card can be purchased and redeemed anytime, but it sure makes a great gift for the holiday season.

What is lenticular?
Now you see it, now you don't. Lenticular is the name for a visual trick that combines multiple images superimposed on one another. You "flip" the card to see the picture change before your eyes. The design reflects the sense of fun and discovery that makes Lawrence Hall of Science A GAS!
