Ocean Immersion

Each year, MARE schools conduct intensive whole-school educational events that involve faculty and students at all grades, as well as parents and the community. Some schools celebrate an Ocean Week. Others expand their focus to an entire Ocean Month. These Ocean Immersion programs create an exciting atmosphere school-wide and serve as the centerpiece for yearlong ocean studies.

During an Ocean Immersion program, teachers receive coaching, support, and in-class modeling of the MARE curriculum; classes conduct special projects; schools are visited by guest speakers and participate in marine science field trips. In addition, MARE provides an extensive library of books, posters, videos, music, and other resource materials for use throughout the Ocean Immersion celebration.

"Wow... what a professional bunch! It was really an honor to be included as a parent. I think parent involvement is crucial to a program like this, and it's nice to see it recognized."
