It’s summer and that means fun—but it doesn’t mean that brains have to turn to mush. Lawrence Hall of Science offers you tons of great ways to get into science this summer.
Family Fridays
Fridays from June 19 to August 21
Laugh and learn about the (impolite) side of animal science at Animal Grossology – now through September 6. This summer, starting June 19, LHS will stay open until 8 p.m. And if you arrive after 5 p.m., admission is just $5 and always free for members! Check out our web site for descriptions of Family Friday activities that are fun and educational for the entire family.
We’ll be kicking off Family Fridays on June 19 with a visit from Sylvia Branzei. Sylvia proudly goes by the title “Her Grossness” and she’s earned it by researching and writing five books on the subject of “grossology.” On this Family Friday kickoff event, you’ll learn how to make fake blood – and why the real thing isn’t always red. Sylvia will lead icky activities at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Summer Fun Days
Wednesdays from June 17 to August 19
Engage in a variety of special activities, from making (and eating) your own ice cream to re-creating the solstice on a six-foot globe. Check out the full list of Fun Days here.
Summer Camps
It's not too late to sign up for LHS Summer Camps! Choose from a wide variety of one-week and two-week camps for ages 4-high school. Camps offer a variety of imaginative, hands-on activities on themes such as Creature Camp, Secret Formulas, Lego Engineering, Roller Coasters, Rockets and Science Theater. Session one begins June 15. Learn Science and Help LHS! Become a Tester Today.
The Lawrence Hall of Science is looking for families with children between the ages of 7 and 12 to help test new science programs at the museum and activity kits for use at home. Families can do testing either on-site at LHS or at their home with a follow-up interview at LHS. Testing will take place during the weeks of June 15 and June 29.
