This interactive is a simulation of Earth’s seasons. After the introduction screen you will see two separate views of a simulated Earth rotating the Sun, and a control screen. The larger window in the simulation is a side view of Earth. A smaller top view is located in the lower right-hand window. Below the side view window, you’ll find controls that alter the simulated Earth’s tilt and position, and show or hide the equator and tropics. Daylight hours and temperatures for four cities around the planet are shown in the lower left-hand corner. To locate any of these cities on the simulated Earth side view, click the city’s name to highlight its position and latitude. Data will automatically update once the tilt or month is changed. The distance between Earth and the Sun is shown in the top view of the simulated Earth, and will also update based on month.
