Check Out Science

Check Out Science

Check Out Science makes doing science with your family easy, no scientific expertise necessary. You and your budding scientist read a nonfiction book from our Seeds of Science/Roots of Reading curriculum, then follow the instructions on the included activity card. As you do the activity, your scientist can record thoughts, questions, and results in the Check Out Science notebook that is yours to keep. Most of the activities allow you to record your results in the activities below. Check our list of partner libraries to find out where Check Out Science kits are available in your area.

Explore Your World

Explore Your World

You don't have to trek through a rainforest, blast off for space, or dive to the deep sea to explore your world. Start exploring right here, in interactives that let you experiment, discover, and share online what you find. So catch the wind and measure its speed… eat like a bird and find the best beak… Concoct strange goop that acts like a solid and a liquid… and much, much more. Then compare your data with other explorers—just as scientists do—to discover even more than you expected!
