Important Information Regarding
The 2010 Northern California Western Nevada
Junior Science and Humanities Symposium
High school students, teachers, and parents are invited to participate in the Regional Symposium, which will be held March 18 - 20, 2010, at the University of Nevada Reno
Lodging, meals, and symposium activities will be provided for all participants
for a one time group registration fee of $100:
Lodging – Circus Circus Hotel Reno, NV
Meals and Activities–The Conference and Events Center, Circus Circus Hotel
Student Research Presentations–The UNR Joe Crowley Student Union Theater
If you think you might be interested in participating and/or would like to learn more about the symposium, please download and submit the Preliminary Indication of Interest Form according to the instructions on the form.
Note:
- All schools or families who have one or more students who wish to participate in the scholarship competition are required to submit this form for the student to be eligible to present the paper.
- The registration fee applies only to symposium attendance, there is no cost for a student presenting their work in the preliminary round
When the Interest Form is received, you will be contacted and sent further information about the program and a place will be tentatively reserved for you and your students pending your final reservation.

Important Dates for Participants not Presenting a Paper
- November 20, 2009
- Due date for submission of Preliminary Indication of Interest Form
- February 24, 2010
- Due date for submission of Final Registration Form
- March 10, 2010
- Adult group leader to receive symposium information
- March 18, 2010
- Symposium registration 11:00 AM to 2:00 at The Circus Circus Reno Hotel
Important Dates for Student Paper Presenters
- December 11,2009
- Scientific Review Committee Project Proposal Forms due from students who have done work with humans, other vertebrates, any pathogenic materials, controlled substances, or bio-assays in which organisms have been destroyed
- January 8, 2010
- Student presenter forms due: Abstract, Student Data and Statement of Outside Assistance, and Formal Research Paper (See instructions in Qualifying to be a Student Presenter link)
- Week of February 15-19, 2010
- Students present their papers to screening committees to select the sixteen Regional Finalist presenters
- February 22, 2010
- Students and teachers notified of the decisions of the judging committees
