The 2009 Northern California Western Nevada
Jr. Science and Humanities Symposium

A three-day event, which is held annually on a university campus, provides high school students who have done original research in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics the opportunity to present their work. The presentations, in competition for scholarships, are made to a panel of judges and an audience of high school students, teachers, and guests.
Students present their work in a screening session,
then sixteen students are chosen to present at the
Regional Symposium. Regional winners go on to
Present at the
National Symposium in May.
- The student paper presentations
- Non-presenting participants join the presenters for informal discussions, tours of research facilities, round table career discussions, and presentations by national and world recognized scientists.
The Northern California Western Nevada Junior Science and Humanities Symposium is a program of the San Francisco Bay Area Science Fair, Inc. and is co-sponsored by the research offices of the Army, Navy, and Air Force along with the Lawrence Hall of Science at the University of California, Berkeley; the University of California, Davis; the University of Nevada, Reno, and the Northwestern Nevada Science and Engineering Fair Consortium. It is included in the National Association of Secondary School Principals Advisory List of Contests and Activities.
