To address the interlocking challenges facing our world we need to make a substantial investment in our level of science capacity and literacy. We need to enable the development of innovators, science literate workers, and informed and engaged citizens.
That’s why the mission of the Lawrence Hall of Science is more relevant today than it’s ever been: “To inspire and foster the learning of science and mathematics for all.”
How do we fund our efforts? From many different sources. We receive support from individuals and members. We compete well for federal grants. We re-invest the revenue we earn from publishing educational products. We have partnerships with corporations. And we receive funding from the State of California. But state funding is shrinking dramatically, which puts pressure on all publicly funded organizations, not just ours.
We see this challenge as an opportunity—a chance to restructure our funding profile and expand our partnerships with forward-thinking companies. We want to work together to accomplish big things for our children, our workforce, and our country.
