At Lawrence Hall of Science, we believe that the best science is green science. That’s why we’re launching a new environmentally friendly membership option. Green members agree to opt out of all paper mailings, and in addition to enjoying regular membership benefits they will receive:

• No paper mail, other than membership card(s)
• Electronic invitations to special events and exhibition openings
• Catalogs for classes and camps in PDF format
• Subscription to our e-newsletter

Membership support translates directly to sustaining the Hall’s mission to inspire and foster learning of science and mathematics for all. By freeing up valuable resources, we are able to continue presenting vital science and math programs that enrich the lives of our visitors and the communities we serve. Green Membership FAQs

1. What is a green membership?
   Our new green membership program is designed to drastically reduce the amount of printed materials you receive from us. By “greening” your membership, you agree to receive all communications from the Hall via email. Once your membership is processed, you will receive a welcome email with specific instructions on how to set up your new green membership. After we mail your membership cards, we will no longer send any paper mail to you—all invitations, catalogs, and renewal notices will be sent via email.

2. How much does a green membership cost?
   Green membership does not cost you any extra money; further, it provides many great benefits for both our environment and the Hall. When our members choose to green their membership, it enables us to be more environmentally conscious by using less paper, and in turn helps us to save money on printing and mailing costs. This translates directly to sustaining our ability to deliver innovative programs, workshops, and exhibits to over 200,000 children and adults every year.

3. Can any membership level be made green?
   Yes, any level of membership can be made green. “Greening” your membership does not affect your benefits, only your receipt of paper mailings.

4. Can I give a green membership as a gift?
   Yes. As long as you have a valid email address for your gift recipient, you may sign them up for a green membership.

5. I already have a membership. Can I “green” it?
   Yes, you may green your membership at any time. To indicate that you would like to green your membership, please contact our membership office at 510-642-1838 or email develop@berkeley.edu.

6. Can I opt out before my membership expires?
   Certainly, you may opt out anytime. Please call our membership department at 510-642-1838 or email develop@berkeley.edu to do so. While we would be sorry to see you opt out of this innovative program, we’d welcome feedback about your experience with your green membership.
