Families and Schools Project Of Northern California

Parent Involvement

The Ocean Immersion™ Month is a special occasion for parents and teachers to experiment with new ways for parents to support their children's learning. New approaches tried during this special event develop relationships that support effective education throughout the school year and beyond.

Parents can demonstrate their support for their child's efforts at school by asking about school activities, conducting follow-up activities at home, taking related family field trips, coming into the classroom to help, and by drawing on their connections to resources in the local community to support the Ocean Immersion™.

Teachers discover and practice ways to involve parents, and open channels of communication between teacher and parent.

As parents get involved and develop ways to communicate with teachers and each other, their capacity to support the school grows.

Everybody wins!
