Course:
For undergraduate and graduate students interested in improving their ability to communicate their scientific knowledge by presenting science activities in a museum setting. The course will combine instruction in inquiry-based science teaching methods with six weeks of supervised teaching at the Lawrence Hall of Science museum. Students will practice communicating scientific knowledge, and receive mentoring on how to improve their presentations.
Prerequisites:
One course in introductory biology, geology, chemistry or marine science, interest in ocean science and enthusiasm for teaching science!
Meeting Time and Transportation:
Fridays from 9:30am-12:20pm at the Lawrence Hall of Science (LHS) in Room 150
Access to LHS via the Hill (H) Shuttle Line:
Shuttle pick-up is at Hearst Mining Circle; in front of Evans Hall

leave Hearst Mining Circle at 9:10am, arrive at LHS 9:25am
- leave LHS at 12:25pm, arrive at Mining Circle 12:35pm

*Note: Class actually begins at 9:30, not at 9:40 "Berkeley Time." However, class will end 10 minutes early to accomodate students taking the shuttle*
Please fill out this short pre-survey before our first class meeting on Friday Jan. 25! It should only take about 10 minutes to finish.
Other Time Commitments:
- 3 hours observing visitor interactions with exhibits and activities on the LHS museum floor
- 6 hours presenting activities at the LHS museum (efforts will be made to arrange times to fit your schedules and interests)
