All family workshops include admission to the Lawrence Hall of Science. Each workshop participant will receive a take-home list of related books to read and activities to do at home.

Down to Earth,Bugs&All

Create a living habitat to take home. Make your own miniature terrarium, and learn what plants and animals need for healthy lives. Race isopods. Identify male and female crickets. At the end of the workshop, you can hold a real live tarantula if you want.

Life in a Pond

Can you spot a frog or a water boatman hiding in the cattails? Use nets and microscopes to explore our pond. Later we will observe newts, turtles, crayfish, and other animals from our Biology Lab. If it rains, we will explore pond animals inside.

BuzzingWithBees

Come join a beekeeper to learn all about bees. Look at an observation hive to see what bees do inside their hive. Find out how beekeepers collect honey, and handle beekeepers’ equipment. Taste some honey as you buzz in for this special class on bees.
