| Position ACCESS Associate Specialist (Mathematics) Applications are being accepted immediately to fill one 100% variable Associate Specialist (Mathematics) position in Alliance for Collaborative Change in School Systems (ACCESS). ACCESS is a partnership of the University of California’s Lawrence Hall of Science (LHS) and the San Francisco Bay Area school districts that helps schools build their capacity to better prepare historically underrepresented students for college-preparatory courses and admission to four-year colleges. As part of the LHS Center for Mathematics Excellence and Equity (CeMEE), ACCESS mathematics staff work at school sites nationwide with mathematics teachers, counselors, and administrators to help strengthen curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices through site-based staff development, problem-solving, and coaching, services, and with students through individual and small-group learning activities. Position Requirements B.S. Math (Masters degree preferred). California teaching credential in mathematics, min. 8 years experience teaching mathematics at secondary and/or college levels. Classroom experience teaching activity-based materials preferred. Experience providing staff and curriculum development at the pre-college level and experience working with culturally diverse groups. Experience developing authentic assessment methods desirable. Periodic travel out-of-state. Anticipated starting date 5/1/08 to 4/30/09, depending on availability of funds. Initial 1-year appointment, renewal contingent upon performance review and available funding. Position is subject to background check.
